Drive-test maneuver
Turns and intersections
Most drive-test deductions happen at corners: rolling stops, wide rights, and cutting lefts.
- 1Lane earlyRight turns from the right-most lane into the right-most lane. Lefts from the left-most legal lane.
- 2Signal 100 feetIf the signal is out, use the left arm: out = left, up = right, down = stop.
- 3Full stopStop behind the line or crosswalk. Count one full second of stillness, then look left-right-left.
- 4ScanYield to pedestrians even in unmarked crosswalks. A green light is not a left-turn arrow.
What the examiner wants
- Complete stop — wheels not creeping
- Do not swing into the next lane
- Yield to people in the street
- Hands stay on the wheel through the turn
